Annual Employee Safety Recognition Program

This highly successful program is designed to recognize employees for the number of consecutive years worked without a preventable accident, preventable injury or violation of other disqualifying criteria. Employees are awarded with items to be worn on their uniform, on their person or proudly displayed showing their achievement.

The following is an example of how an employee becomes eligible to advance to the next award year level.

Eligibility.

When the employee is charged with an accident or injury, that employee is not eligible to accrue time until the next anniversary of either the last safety award earned or the employees start date if no award has yet been earned.

Example 1:
An employee received a 4-year award on June 15, 1995. On January 23, 1996 that employee was charged with a preventable accident. The employee will be ineligible to accrue time towards his five year award until Jun 15, 1996 the anniversary of his last reward.
Example 2:
An employee was hired March 1, 1993. July 14, 1993 he was injured due to an unsafe act he committed. Because he has not earned his 2-year award he must start the 24-month proving period over. His is not eligible to do so until March 1, 1994 the anniversary of his hire date.

Through this structure, administration by the local companies has been greatly simplified. On the anniversary of the employees hire date, district management need only to determine if the employee was charged with a preventable accident or an injury due to an unsafe act in the last 12 months. If so he will not receive a reward. If not, the employee advances one year and receives an award.
